Stuart has been raving about this restaurant since he went for a business lunch, and I have been eager to try it ever since. On one of our random road trips around the area, we found ourselves very close to the restaurant, so we decided to stop. Wow! I love barbecue, but this is awesome. The lines start to form pretty early and will end up out the door until they sell out of food, so get there early! As a lover of brisket, this was probably the best one I have ever had, but really anything you get is probably delicious...and deep fried corn on the cob-what! Perfect.</span><br />

But, that DOES mean that we got to celebrate our one year anniversary! And what a great year it has been! We have had so many exciting adventures and experiences, and with the addition of the little one in October, so many more to come. </span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">As is traditional in the
Presley household, we like to re-create our very first date, as it was
the first time we met and also the day (a year later) that we got
married.</span><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> It includes gift-exchange, dinner at Blueberry Hill, and a trip to bubble tea. Since we did not get to keep our cake topper, I secretly planned to have a small replica of our wedding cake made from the bakery where we got our original cake. So delicious! It was a fantastic day, filled with love from family and many new memories. </span><br />

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Can't wait till next year!</span>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00900434688158070207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857318518170487150.post-46316773652448274542012-05-24T09:32:00.000-05:002012-05-24T09:32:03.401-05:00DIY: Cabinet Makeover<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">While I LOVE being a home-owner, it seems that there is never a shortage of projects to complete! I am always looking for new ways to update this or re-purpose that, and our kitchen is no exception. Not exactly user-friendly and with slightly lopsided builders' cabinets, I decided to jazz them up a bit with some decoupage and a fun mod kitchen themed paper. It brightened up the whole space and makes me actually want to use it- now I just need to learn how to cook! We have family coming this weekend and I wanted to make it more cozy. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"><u>Supplies:</u></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Scrapbook Paper</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Paper Cutter</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Ruler/Pencil</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Mod Podge</span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;">Sponge Brush</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<img border="0" height="400" qba="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-u366XyRCPXQ/T748vebLafI/AAAAAAAAAXo/D-s48CQMJds/s400/kitchen+supplies.JPG" width="301" /><img border="0" height="300" qba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-6uBxniHdu7o/T748xtnTQhI/AAAAAAAAAXw/-AIMK-i7nu8/s400/how+to+cabinets.JPG" width="400" /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">1. Choose your paper- make it fun! 2. Measure the area where your paper is going to go and use a paper cutter for straight edges. 3. Once you have the size you need, apply the Mod Podge to the back of the paper and position it where you want it on the surface (I chose matte-medium because I didn't want super-glossy cabinets, but you can use whichever suits your project). When you have the paper placed, give it a little time to dry underneath and then apply a coat on top of the paper, let dry, and repeat. You can put as many layers of decoupage medium as desired.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: Trebuchet MS;"><em>Tip: If you get some air bubbles in your paper while the Mod Podge is drying, take a small pin or thumbtack and lightly poke the bubble and pat to get the air out. </em></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwT1GgNzztM/T748zrRUJ4I/AAAAAAAAAX4/HMYwr4QAqHE/s1600/cabinets+final.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="241" qba="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pwT1GgNzztM/T748zrRUJ4I/AAAAAAAAAX4/HMYwr4QAqHE/s320/cabinets+final.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">4. Enjoy your new cabinets! Remember that Mod Podge IS water-soluble so you may want to apply a sealant to the top once everything is completely dry. But if not, this means that you can change the themes when you get tired of the pattern or if it gets icky. Now I am on the hunt for the perfect knobs to go with my new funky kitchen!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-btKuVvJawvQ/T7480XDDYDI/AAAAAAAAAYA/YmP3QumzEEg/s1600/jasper+helper.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" qba="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-btKuVvJawvQ/T7480XDDYDI/AAAAAAAAAYA/YmP3QumzEEg/s320/jasper+helper.JPG" width="241" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">As always, Mr. Jasper is on hand to help...</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I hope you will try this technique on something in your home! It's so easy and the results make for a personalized touch to your space- and a great conversation starter. Have a great day!</span></div>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00900434688158070207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857318518170487150.post-13135921763418566012012-05-23T14:40:00.000-05:002012-05-23T14:40:13.711-05:00Food Truck Fridays!<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">One of my most favorite summer activities is the annual <a href="http://www.saucemagazine.com/foodtruckfriday.php/">Food Truck Friday</a> event that happens in Tower Grove park. I love to see how each trucks' individuality, with their whirring generator and precisely placed mini-kitchen, brings flocks of us to enjoy their goodies! My first adventure in food trucking was last year, and I was totally unprepared for the feast that lay ahead. This time, with camp chairs slung over one shoulder, plenty of cash to spare, and a map of which food truck was where (pre-highlighted, I might add- hey, a girl has to be prepared), Stuart and I managed to try three different trucks. Good thing this event happens more than once because we made note of which one to try next time...everything was so delish!</span></div>

I finally upgraded my phone to the newest version so I have discovered all these great new (to me) camera apps that I couldn't use before. I had been dying without my instant photo editors...ugh. BUT it all works now, which makes me super happy, so I grabbed Jasper for an impromptu photo op, to which he graciously obliged...kind of.</span><br />

Today, I tried a little green for this sunny day. </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OQfsJYI2g90/T2ynSYt3K5I/AAAAAAAAAW0/iLwt9LnPxb8/s1600/makeup.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OQfsJYI2g90/T2ynSYt3K5I/AAAAAAAAAW0/iLwt9LnPxb8/s400/makeup.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It totally helps to have a good place to put your makeup on. Mine is a converted desk with space to hold my books and hide my nail polish collection above. I keep everything in a handy dandy travel case, mostly because it looks nice and because I can organize it by section and it makes me feel professional! Last Christmas, my hubby got me the most amazing makeup kit from Sephora with practically every color needed, which makes experimenting super easy. So today, it was green:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SNxMEcvKrgc/T2ynRFuy51I/AAAAAAAAAWs/xU4Sr1HwxDE/s1600/green+open.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-SNxMEcvKrgc/T2ynRFuy51I/AAAAAAAAAWs/xU4Sr1HwxDE/s200/green+open.JPG" width="200" /></a></div><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-88plzrytyMs/T2ynQIFaCVI/AAAAAAAAAWk/91V8KJPXgzI/s1600/green+closed.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-88plzrytyMs/T2ynQIFaCVI/AAAAAAAAAWk/91V8KJPXgzI/s200/green+closed.JPG" width="200" /></a><br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">I started with the usual prep: foundation, concealer, powder, brows. I always prime my eyelids, usually with Cover Girl's Shadow Blast. I just got one in green, so I was so ready to use it. I went a little above my lid line, then brushed a slightly darker shade of powder over my lid and into the crease, then a slightly lighter shade in the inside corners. I then used liquid liner for a slight cat eye. While letting that dry, I applied blush to the apples of my cheeks then finished with a brush of mascara. And never forget your lips! I hope you can use this look, and you can always make it more dramatic for an evening out. Enjoy!</span> </span></div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />

Where has the past month gone? A lot has happened, but I am really ready to get back into the swing of blogging, with new ideas and new excursions. Most importantly (and the biggest change to our life), we will be welcoming a new addition to Team Presley come October! We are super excited, so don't be surprised if some baby posts show up...or at least cute ways to stay fashionable with maternity-wear. Yay! </span>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00900434688158070207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857318518170487150.post-56318382132405805482012-02-01T17:26:00.000-06:002012-02-01T17:26:57.043-06:00<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Today was absolutely beautiful! I just had to drive home with my windows down and enjoy it while it lasts! Maybe a walk around the lake is in order for tonite's activities...?</span><br />

I had a lot of fun answering her questions and there are some new pictures of a special project I have been working on! Enjoy. xo</span>Dianehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00900434688158070207noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857318518170487150.post-46074147955531405852012-01-30T10:32:00.000-06:002012-01-30T10:32:27.444-06:00The Sloup!<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">So Saint Louis has these great little nooks and crannies of awesome art groups that gather for a tradition known as "<a href="http://sloup2122.blogspot.com/">Sloup</a>". What happens? Artists submit possible project proposals which are voted on while enjoying homemade soup (for a small cover)! I heard about this adventure from <a href="http://www.sheridaninthecity.blogspot.com/">Katie</a>, who always has the most interesting ideas for things to do. I love it! This time around, it was hosted at various places around South City, and our eventual choice was at a local chef's house. She was serving both vegan and omnivore soup, which worked for both of us and our significant others, so off we went. So delicious! Stuart tried the fancy cocktail that consisted of about 15 ingredients, but he got lost after "cognac"-ha. We voted, enjoyed some cheese and soup, mingled, and then made our way to <a href="http://www.baileyschocolatebar.com/">Bailey's Chocolate Bar</a>. For real. Recommended: bittersweet and bacon truffles and banana nutella crepes. I didn't take pictures...because it was so good, I forgot.</span> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVYN4EHqtss/TybBqK_Pq-I/AAAAAAAAAUc/RvwOya9RjVM/s1600/Picnik+soup+collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="294" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-fVYN4EHqtss/TybBqK_Pq-I/AAAAAAAAAUc/RvwOya9RjVM/s320/Picnik+soup+collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;"> Butternut Squash and Ham and Beans...Delicious</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8jO-HftRSk/TybCn70yupI/AAAAAAAAAVs/uDgtLJTh0ZU/s1600/sloup5.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-i8jO-HftRSk/TybCn70yupI/AAAAAAAAAVs/uDgtLJTh0ZU/s400/sloup5.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Stuart enjoys the 15-ingredient cocktail!</span></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--Xk0_6udgXA/TybCjevzj1I/AAAAAAAAAVc/YAHOdPSti60/s1600/sloup1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--Xk0_6udgXA/TybCjevzj1I/AAAAAAAAAVc/YAHOdPSti60/s400/sloup1.jpg" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0GkMPTD-SLU/TybCllEPgCI/AAAAAAAAAVk/zBtkwMpoh4w/s1600/sloup2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-0GkMPTD-SLU/TybCllEPgCI/AAAAAAAAAVk/zBtkwMpoh4w/s400/sloup2.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X_lUEFqI_Ao/TybCoRleYAI/AAAAAAAAAV0/r0qoFGGfKKs/s1600/sloup6.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" gda="true" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-X_lUEFqI_Ao/TybCoRleYAI/AAAAAAAAAV0/r0qoFGGfKKs/s400/sloup6.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Our chef had an amazing collection of cookbooks. These are a sampling of my favorite and most-used items in my bag. First, and most important, is prepping your face using light and moisturizing lotion before adding foundation:</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rs9iLc1FInU/TxN4aoTnEJI/AAAAAAAAAT4/CK6li7g_IIw/s1600/DSCN0604.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rs9iLc1FInU/TxN4aoTnEJI/AAAAAAAAAT4/CK6li7g_IIw/s640/DSCN0604.JPG" width="496" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Next, I go to the eyes, which for me are the most fun because you can always add your own flair depending on how you feel, or what you are wearing. For me, a good flick at the end of the eyeliner for a cat eye always makes for a good look. If there is any special outing, I always add fake eyelashes for extra drama, and just a little gold liner at the inside corner. For day, a little shimmer goes a long way with a little darker shadow in the crease</span>, <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">using a primer so that it doesn't smudge:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amXkuNpx3G0/TxN4YkX3tII/AAAAAAAAATw/38we_b88m34/s1600/DSCN0602.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-amXkuNpx3G0/TxN4YkX3tII/AAAAAAAAATw/38we_b88m34/s640/DSCN0602.JPG" width="483" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Finally, never forget the lips! (as my mother would always say) I live by this double-ended lip gloss because it literally lasts all day and I perpetually forget to re-apply normal lipstick. For those dry days when your lips feel like the Sahara, this little minty globe of heaven might just help...and it looks cool: </span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4VelEPMAERE/TxN4dpqqSnI/AAAAAAAAAUA/rf-RXzRQ3js/s1600/DSCN0606.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-4VelEPMAERE/TxN4dpqqSnI/AAAAAAAAAUA/rf-RXzRQ3js/s640/DSCN0606.JPG" width="490" /></a></div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> Hope these ideas help you! xo</span><br />

I have recently discovered a love of brooches and while putting together my craft room, I found a bit of felt and decided to make a little something fun. Here's what I came up with: </span><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><u><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Supplies:</span></u></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Felt</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Circle Template</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Watercolor Image</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Superglue/Crystals</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Pin Back</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Needle and Thread</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lXOnX-Z139s/Tw-U-Iw29HI/AAAAAAAAASg/XLmIs9zAYYo/s1600/pin+howto+1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-lXOnX-Z139s/Tw-U-Iw29HI/AAAAAAAAASg/XLmIs9zAYYo/s400/pin+howto+1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_FBqZOGRUg/Tw-U_91pjlI/AAAAAAAAASo/l2Bnu3mbcwU/s1600/pin+howto+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5_FBqZOGRUg/Tw-U_91pjlI/AAAAAAAAASo/l2Bnu3mbcwU/s400/pin+howto+2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div> <span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">1. Using the template, draw a circle on a piece of felt in any color you choose and cut out the outside and the center./2. Copy the circle onto a watercolor image (or any image that inspires you) and cut out, leaving about a 1/4 inch from the edge. I quickly drew and painted a vintage looking portrait, but really anything would work!/3. Stitch the drawing to the open middle of the circle./4. Cut a smaller circle in a contrasting color and stitch a pin back to the middle with a needle and thread, then superglue to the back of the main piece./5. For an extra touch, I cut out some small leaves to go with the flowers in the painting and then used hotfix crystals to give it some sparkle. Make sure everything is dry and then enjoy adding something unique to your next outfit!</span><br />

While, for all intents and purposes, my original craft room was well situated in the basement of our house, it just wasn't being used to it's full extent- so mom, Stu, and I moved it upstairs into our spare room. It is amazing...I may never leave...which is kind of the point. </span><br />

We had a few family members in town and had a delicious meal, complete with Grandma Presley's homemade apple and pumpkin pies-yum! A couple weeks before this fantastic holiday, My wonderful husband surprised me with a trip to Memphis, so I thought I would share a few photos from our excursion. We are rapidly becoming experts at road trips! Despite our common last name, we did not get a discount into </span><a href="http://www.elvis.com/graceland/default.aspx?gclid=COSh49Hk3qwCFQYBQAodNndeNg"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Graceland</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">, but we (literally) packed everything you could do in Memphis in one day. Was it tacky? Of course, but so worth it! And we even made it in town early enough the day before to catch the Cardinals win the World Series (which is a BIG deal in our household).</span><br />

This place is a-mazing. Filled with old treasures and still a working recording studio today, it is where Elvis recorded his first song, as well as a place where some of the greats have sung (Johnny Cash anyone?). The tour is really a great way to learn more about the history and get a glimpse into what it was like back in the heyday of rock and roll.</span><br />

It was tons of fun and Katie and I had a blast. I was really nervous at first because everyone seemed to know what they were doing, but it was so much easier than what I had made up in my head. Once Stuart and I set up, we were peppered with customers and eventually got selling! Apparently hot for the season: knitted ear warmers with an extra special detail. I have been making these for a little while, but started to add embellishments and twists to make it more special. Also a big hit were the weighted wrap necklaces...so I will be making more of these for the next go-around. All in all, it was so great to see what worked and I look forward to the next one! It made you feel like you HAD to get outside or you would miss something important that day, like a certain color red on a changing leaf or the smell of crisp fresh air. This is somewhat unlike me since I am well versed in couch-potato-ness, but it was impossible to resist the great outdoors. So, Stuart and I made our way to the Saint Louis Botanical Garden...but not without a quick pop over to The Hill for lunch at </span><a href="http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g44881-d441405-Reviews-Lou_Boccardi_s_Restaurant-Saint_Louis_Missouri.html"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Lou Boccardi's</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"> (best toasted ravioli ever per Stuart's well groomed toasted ravioli palette). We sat outside and enjoyed our delicious Godfather pizza, minus mushrooms of course...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Then it was off to the </span><a href="http://www.missouribotanicalgarden.org/"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Garden</span></a><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">. Yes, we went earlier this year for Mother's day, but so much has changed since then, and my favorite fall flowers are out now, so I brought my camera and snapped a few in new places of the Garden I have never been- like the Shaw House, where the owner of the property before it was given to the city and garden-lover Henry Shaw lived and is buried behind. It was amazing. If you ever visit Saint Louis, be sure to stop by here and just explore. It's so much more than just flowers...</span><br />

There are so many nooks and crannies, towns and neighborhoods to explore. One neighborhood that is up and coming is lovingly known as "The Grove". Still with boarded up buildings and struggling shops, GroveFest brings together a street fair and awareness about the neighborhood...and a fashion show (in which my friend rocked the runway with her designs)! Oh, and did I mention roller derby? Yes please!</span><br />

In college, I actually took a "jewelry making" class, in which I thought we would be making jewelry with beads and jewels...you know...pretty things. Boy was I surprised! Next thing I knew I was forging solid silver on an anvil and soldering jump rings. Though it was not what I expected, it gave me a great respect for those who actually do those things. For me, however, I wanted to try my hand at making something I could actually do and would actually wear (and have been!), and here are a few of the results, with more to come! </span><br />

But seriously, the less of it to get in my way the better! My latest hairdo is SUPER fun, and if you are like me and enjoy a little height in your hair, try it. It takes a little finesse, but with practice, it may become your go-to hairstyle! People just might stop you to admire the sheer volume you created, so have fun with it. Add sparkle with a hairpin, or tie a ribbon around the base to make it more playful. Bring your hairspray ladies, because this one needs it :) </span><br />

It's perfect with a little summer dress and some strappy sandals for cruising the beach...or the city. I don't really like hair on my neck, but sometimes ponytails look ridiculous on me, so this was my solution- a half up, half braided mixture, with (of course) a hair accessory to top it off! Try it out:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Te1ye9azwr0/Ti6_Wed-0BI/AAAAAAAAAGU/cjS7yt2WdhU/s1600/photo3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Te1ye9azwr0/Ti6_Wed-0BI/AAAAAAAAAGU/cjS7yt2WdhU/s320/photo3.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">It's actually pretty simple and will only take about 5 minutes</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Here's what you will need:</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9adFMW_ycaA/Ti6_ZetTL7I/AAAAAAAAAGY/uginE3uT2I4/s1600/supplies.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-9adFMW_ycaA/Ti6_ZetTL7I/AAAAAAAAAGY/uginE3uT2I4/s320/supplies.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">(A teasing comb, a couple bobby pins, a hair tie, and a delicate accessory)</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Cwm86cwvZ0/Ti6_a2UlnbI/AAAAAAAAAGc/n-t1XYEp85A/s1600/photo1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-_Cwm86cwvZ0/Ti6_a2UlnbI/AAAAAAAAAGc/n-t1XYEp85A/s320/photo1.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></span></a></div><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Okay, so it looks a little like I rolled out of bed, but that's kind of what happens when you tease it-ha. Divide the top half of your hair into three sections ( top, left, right) and take the teasing comb to each section, teasing the underside of the hair. Spray a little hair spray to hold the tease in place.</span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LPR0PlY-rqY/Ti6_b1uju7I/AAAAAAAAAGg/Dned0cilb2U/s1600/photo2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-LPR0PlY-rqY/Ti6_b1uju7I/AAAAAAAAAGg/Dned0cilb2U/s320/photo2.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">To make the pouf, take side sections of the hair you teased, and bring them around to the back. Hold tightly, and push the hair up toward the crown. This should make the bump, including the top of the hair and secure with the bobby pins. Bring the remainder of your hair to one side and make a braid. Finish off with a hair tie and add the accessory to cover the bobby pins...or wherever you want! Voila!</span></div><div align="left"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VaGP05ujY5Q/Ti7DXAS5U8I/AAAAAAAAAGk/MN2YdN0uyKc/s1600/photo4.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-VaGP05ujY5Q/Ti7DXAS5U8I/AAAAAAAAAGk/MN2YdN0uyKc/s320/photo4.JPG" t$="true" width="240" /></span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;">Now put on that summer dress and hit the town! </span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS",sans-serif;"><br />

I must have slept on it funny because it was sticking up in all kinds of directions in the front and had a big bump right above my bangs. I attribute this to getting used to having a bed hog of a cat that demands attention while I'm trying to sleep (We just retrieved him from my mom's house on Sunday). Oh Jasper! - or as he is more affectionately known: Mr. (Tippy) Pants. Well, to fix the hair dilemma I enlisted the help of the very handy scarf to downplay the pouf; and here is the result: </span><br />

I have been away, getting married and such, and catching up on work-related things. Now, as my new life with my fantastic husband (yay! I said husband!) and our mischievous cat Jasper begins, I can focus more on the "doing" things in life...</span><br />
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">There will be photos soon from our amazing adventures and as I get started on my small creative endeavors, even more pictures! I have also been thinking about adding a segment featuring hair and makeup tips/tricks...because I have been getting stopped in stores recently and having people ask me about it. What do you think? Today's look: </span><br />

It was impossible to move to get a better spot (we managed to get seats, so we weren't about to give them up to look for something else) but the view was pretty darn good for how packed the Pageant was. Fortunately, the 5K race that I entered Stuart and myself into allowed for both running and walking participants. It was called "Make Tracks for the Zoo" and anyone who has been to the Saint Louis Zoo knows that it's a pretty awesome one...besides, the admission is free! Anyway, we made it with the walking crowd (which was pretty jam-packed) in just under an hour. It was more for the experience of doing a 5K, but I'm pretty excited at how well we did:</span><br />
